Tim Griffin

With Over 30 years of experience. Tim has an In-depth knowledge of the classic car business. Starting his career as a specialist vintage car body sheet metal worker. He has shaped, conserved and fabricated bodies for some of the world’s most famous and historically important cars. Tim has gained extensive knowledge of Jaguar and Aston Martin brands in particular sports/racing cars of the 1950’s and 1960’s. He has restored, prepared and project managed historically important historic sports and race cars from the 1920’s to the 1980’s including Jaguar, Lister, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Aston Martin and HWM. This includes the first works Jaguar D Type, Linder Nocker lightweight, first E Type sold, first RHD FHC E Type; the only XK120 by Pininfarina and Aston Martin Bulldog to name a few. Tim’s experience and knowledge is far reaching.

Tim’s restorations and managed projects have won a number of prestigious Concours and historic motoring awards including Concours d’ Elegance class wins at Pebble Beach, Ville d’ Este, Hampton court and Salon Privé. Other accolades include projects winning RAC Restoration of the Year (twice) and Octane Specialist of the Year.

Tim has been consulted and employed in legal matters as an independent expert witness evaluating on the providence, value and quality of some of the most important historic sports and racing and classic cars for both courts and private litigation.

Tim has been employed to assess pre-sale vehicles of all marques on behalf of clients worldwide including acquisition and building a coherent classic car collection.

He has written numerous articles for publications on originality and restoration, as well as podcasts for owners’ clubs and a video buyers guide for Collecting Classics.

Having spent a career in panel fabrication/chassis building and restoration/conservation, workshop and project management Tim has also sat on the board of one of the industry’s most prestigious restorers. Tim is expertly schooled in all aspects of the industry.

Having been a STEM Ambassador for a number of years, Tim is a strong believer in apprenticeships and bringing a new generation young people to the classic industry, something he is still passionate about.
